 About O'Rourke Originals

O’Rourke Originals was established in 1966 in Washington, D.C. by James and Rosemarie O’Rourke. Employed as Fashion Office Director at Woodward & Lothrop Rosemarie gave a few stained glass gifts to co-workers and, literally, within hours we had our first order from the W & L gift shop for 144 pieces. We became a licensed wholesale and retail business almost over night. Following were orders from Garfinckels and Lord & Taylor as well as numerous Interior Design Studios, gift shops and furniture stores.

We design and create exquisite original bejeweled stained glass boxes, kaleidoscopes, mirrors, nightlights and “Plant Palaces” (terrariums), as well as window panels, cabinet doors and Tiffany reproduction lamp shades on Tiffany reproduction bronze bases.

ROR in Studio

Moving to Pennsylvania in 1977 we found great admiration for our creations. ‘A Little Gallery’ represented us and owner Becky Dietrich wrote numerous newspaper articles about us and our stained glass work.

Forty-five years later we are still designers and fabricators of fine stained glass which will surely become the antiques of tomorrow.

We have never copied anyone’s work, all our designs are our own and original. Our work spans from contemporary to traditional, custom designs and Tiffany reproductions for residential as well as commercial clients, offering free estimates and consultations to plan your projects.

We have over 500 kinds, colors and textures of stained glass sheets, hundreds of imported colored jewels, bevels and bevel clusters, as well as the materials, metals, chemicals and tools needed to produce stained glass projects in our studio.

Always interested in teaching the art of stained glass we offer beginner and advanced classes in the copper foil method, carefully laid out in our brochure. Advanced courses include 3 dimensional projects, such as boxes and terrariums, lamp shade making and the construction of kaleidoscopes.

We also carry a complete line of tools and supplies for other stained glass crafters.

Please make an appointment to discuss your stained glass needs.
